TOOTH COLOURED FILLINGS

For many years the beauty of smiles has been compromised by the placement of silver amalgam fillings. Natural looking tooth coloured fillings have become a popular and preferred alternative. Tooth coloured fillings also require less natural tooth structure to be removed than an amalgam option. Made from composite resin and in a variety of tooth shades the material is bonded to the surrounding tooth structure making it an excellent restorative option for front or back teeth. 

The tooth is prepared by removing all existing fillings and/or decay and  is then treated with a number of solutions which ensure a strong bond between the composite filling material and the tooth.The composite filling is placed in thin layers and sculpted to the form and shape required; a specially developed curing light hardens each layer before the next one is applied. Once the ideal shape is achieved, it is polished to a tooth-like lustre.
